Kastigation/Live At Sunshine Studio/2009 CD Review

Kastigation are a band from Colorado Springs that has also been interviewed before by this zine with a style that is black metal with a death metal edge and this is a review of their ep "Live At Sunshine Studio".

Drums are a mixture of slow, mid paced to fast playing with some brutal blast beats, while the bass playing has a very dark, heavy and powerful tone.

Rhythm guitars combine slow, mid paced to  fast black metal riffs with some death metal and thrash influences being thrown in at times and some occasional soft playing t hat is only used briefly, while the lead guitars are very primal sounding black metal guitar leads that have a doomy feel to them on the last song.

Vocals are very high pitched black metal screams with some deep death metal growls being thrown in, while the lyrics cover the universe, inner strength and darkness, as for the production you can tell this is a live recording and it has a very raw and primal feel to it, while all of the instruments still have a very good sound to them.

In my opinion Kastigation are a good band for their style, and if you like black metal with a death metal edge, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Malignant Infidelity". RECOMMENDED.
