Absent Silence/Dawn Of A New Mourning/No Colours Records/19999 CD Review

Absent Silence where  a band from Finland that played a very  dark and depressive, melodic form of raw and primitive black metal and this is a review of their 1999 album "Dawn Of A New Mourning" which was released by No Colours Records.

Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being used on occasion, while the keyboards have a very dark and atmospheric feeling to them, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mi paced to fast black metal riffs that are very dark, depressive and melodic sounding at times with a brief use of soft and clean playing and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.

Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams with a brief use of clean singing and whispered vocals, while the lyrics cover solitude, suicide and hopelessness, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.

In my opinion Absent Silence where a very good atmospheric, dark sounding black metal band and if you are a fan of this style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Heavens To Discover" "Scarlet Thorns;' and "Code To My Seasons". RECOMMENDED BUY.
