Depriver/Pest Lives/Split/2011 Digital Album Review

This is a split review of 2 bands from Indonesia Depriver and Pest Lives which was released in 2011 by Drowning Productions and we will start of the review with Depriver a shoegaze black metal band mixed with drone/sludge.

Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats, while the bass playing has a very, thick and heavy sound to it.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast riffs that combine black metal with shoegaze and sludge and there are no guitar solos or leads present on their song.

Vocals are a mixture of high pitched black metal screams and deep growls, while the lyrics cover hateful themes, as for the production it has a very heavy, dark raw and primitive sound to it.

In my opinion Depriver have a good song on here that is original sounding, and I am looking forward to hearing more.

Next up is Pest Lives a band that is not black metal but sludge and not the right material for this particular zine.

Drums and bass guitar are all absent form this recording with the music being all instrumental.

Rhythm guitars are all slow sludge/drone/doom metal riffs with a lot of heavy and there are no guitar solos or leads present on their song.

Vocals and lyrics are absent, while the production has a very dark and heavy sound to it.

In my opinion this is a decent split with Depriver having the music and if you are looking for a mixture of black metal, shoegaze, drone and doom metal, you should check this out. RECOMMENDED BUY.
