Hemlock/Funeral Mask/Head Not Found/1998 CD Review

Hemlock  where  a  band  from New  York that  consists of  many  different  veterans  from the  underground  scene  that  played  a  very  raw  and  primitive  form  of  anti  christian  occult  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  1998  album  "Funeral  Mask"  which  was  released  by  Head  Not  Found.

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  good  amount  of  blast  beats  being  thrown  into the  music,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with primitive  riffing  that dominates  throughout  the  recording.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  raw  and  primitive sounding  along  with  some  melodic  riffing  that  brings  a  very  dark  atmosphere  to  the  music  and  there  are  no guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording.

Vocals  are  high  pitched  and  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  with  a  depressive  tone  being  utilized  at  times  before  DSBM  became  a  style,  while  the  lyrics  cover  Occultism,  Darkness,  Evil  and  Anti  Christian  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound  while  you  can  still  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

In  my  opinion  Hemlock  where  a  very  great  sounding  necro,  raw  and  primitive  anti  christian  occult  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  style,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Way  Of  The  Wove"  "Necrofuck"  "Loyal  To  Evil"  and  "Funeral  Mask".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
